GPX Demon GR 165R! A bike that looks nothing less than a beast. The previous sports bike by GPX, the GPX Demon 150R was called a low-budget clone of the Ducati Panigale series. However, they have brought a bike that has been designed completely from scratch. That bike is the GPX Demon GR 165R. This bike has stirred a lot of curiosity among bikers of Bangladesh in 2021. When the bike got released, people took every chance they got to check the bike out.
GPX is a Thai motorcycle manufacturing company. GPX started by making motocross bikes. Slowly they expanded to sports bikes. Their first sports bike, the GPX Demon 150R was called a direct copy of the Ducati Panigale series. However, they brought many motorcycles after that, one of which is the GPX Demon GR 165R. GPX motorcycles are imported by Speedoz Limited. Speedoz Limited is also responsible for motorcycle brands such as Keeway and Benelli; they also bring helmet brands such as Origine and Torq.
The GPX Demon GR 165R is a full-fledged sports bike. The bike comes with clip-on handlebars. The saddle position of the bike is that of a sports bike. The appearance of the bike is very aggressive. Although the front of the bike might remind you of the Yamaha R1 2018, it is fairly different from it. The rear of the bike also seems to be inspired by the Ducati Panigale V4. However, the overall physical attributes of the bike are very unique and exceptionally good.
The GPX Demon GR 165R gets a completely digital instrument cluster (source). The instrument cluster consists of every information known to Bangladeshis. The instrument cluster includes all the basic information such as speed, RPM, trip, odo, fuel, and other necessary indicators. As additional information, the instrument cluster has an engine temperature indicator, clock, gear position indicator, and many more.
The GPX Demon GR 165R comes in two different colors:
Both the colors come with similar decals. The overall decals of the bike give it a very aggressive look.
The GPX Demon GR 165R comes with a full LED setup. The headlight segment consists of, what seems to be, two LED projection units and two DRL units. The taillight segment of the bike is a split LED segment. The indicators of the bikes are also LED. The overall light setup of the bike is top-notch.
The GPX Demon GR 165R is a fairly tall bike. It may be a sportbike, but it still has a high saddle height, 815mm, which may make it difficult for people of height below 5’6”. Similar to most sports bikes, the GPX Demon GR 165R also has a split seat setup. Also similar to most sports bikes, the pillion seat of the bike is very small and may be very uncomfortable for most riders.
The length, height, width, and weight of the GPX Demon GR 165R are 2020mm, 1145mm, 747mm, and 155kg. The bike weighs slightly on the heavier side. But the aerodynamic design makes the bike feel weightless when riding. The bike also has an average wheelbase of 1350mm. This makes the bike compact but also stable at corners.
Engine and Transmission:
The GPX Demon GR 165R has a GPX Fuel Injected engine. The engine is 4-stroke, 2-valve, liquid-cooled, and 164.6cc. The engine pumps out 17.8BHP of power at 9000RPM, but it 16Nm of torque at 6500RPM. The power and torque of the bike allow it to have very good acceleration and very good top speed.
The GPX Demon GR 165R has a basic wet multi-plate clutch system. The bike also has a 6-speed gearbox. The bike is expected to be quite fast. The top speed of the bike is expected to be around 120-125kmph
Brakes, Suspensions, and Wheels:
The brakes of the GPX Demon GR 165R are a bit disappointing. The bike has a basic dual disc brake setup. The front of the bike comes with a 276mm disc brake. The brakes don’t get any ABS or CBS treatment. The rear of the bike gets a 220mm disc. The brakes of the bike are good but could have been better if it had ABS or CBS.
The GPX Demon GR 165R comes with Upside down (USD) telescopic forks at the front. The front suspension may not be the best for the city, as USD suspensions are not very good for taking in jerks. However, the front suspensions may be very useful during cornering, as US suspensions are notoriously good at corners. The rear has a swingarm-based YSS 7-step adjustable mono-shock suspension, which is expected to perform better than most.
The GPX Demon GR 165R gets alloy wheels. The front and the rear wheel have 100/80 and 140/70 section tires respectively. The fat rear tire allows the bike to easily lean at corners. The overall tire setup of the bike is very good.
Pros and Cons:
The GPX Demon GR 165R has a few pros and cons to be discussed.
USD suspension (at corners) and adjustable rear suspension.
USD suspension (on bumpy roads)
No ABS or CBS.
Small pillion seat.
