KTM RC 125 (Indian): Review, Specifications, Price 2020.might have heard about the pocket rocket, the KTM Duke 125 (European), the bike that is notoriously famous in India for bringing havoc on the road.
Today we will talk about its naughtier brother, the KTM RC 125 (Indian). The KTM RC 125 (Indian) is a road-legal track-bike with almost the same specifications as the KTM Duke 125 (Indian), but with a little more craziness in the DNA.
When one of the biggest European motorcycle company is partially owned by an Indian automobile giant, they produce affordable sport bikes that ooze with quality.
That is exactly what happened with KTM, the Austrian motorcycle manufacturer, and the Bajaj, the Indian automobile giant. The result? KTM RC 125 (Indian). Although there is a European version of the same bike, the Indian version is both similar and different from that.
The KTM RC 125 (Indian) comes with an aggressive setup. The color scheme, the posture, and the handlebars all indicate the rider to hit the racetrack. However, we Bangladeshis don’t have a racetrack to hit, so all we can do it hit the highway now and then, but still, abide by the traffic rules before hitting the red line.
The KTM RC 125 (Indian) comes with a powder-coated steel Trellis frame. Sounds familiar? Of course. The Steel Trellis frame is inherited by the bike from its elder brother, the KTM RC 200 (Indian). A bigger bike frame and the engine of the KTM Duke 125 (Indian)! A match made in heaven, because the bike is as smooth as the Duke and as fun to flip over after a corner as the RC 200.
The KTM RC 125 (Indian) also gets full LED treatment. The headlight is a set of LED projector headlights. The headlight is separated into two parts, the high beam, and the low beam. The indicators are also minimalistic. There is also a pair of DRL at the front of the bike.
The KTM RC 125 (Indian) comes in two colors. They are
Black (Combined with orange and white).
Orange (Combined with white and black).
The decals of the bike are very aggressive and good looking. The bike is a complete head-turner.
The KTM RC 125 (Indian) comes with an underbelly exhaust setup, unlike the exhaust version, which comes with an underbelly exhaust. This may cause water to creep inside the exhaust during monsoon floods.
The KTM RC 125 (Indian) is a fairly tall bike, with a seat height of 820mm. The bike is mostly suited for riders more than 5’8”. The bike also has a longer rear section, with a stretched-out seat. The bike shares the same tank as the KTM RC 125 (Indian), of 9.5-liters. The tank isn’t going to be the best for long rides as it will not have the best range.
Although there is no information about dimensions of the bike available, it is known that this is much lighter than the Indian version, as this bike only weighs 139kg. The lighter weight makes the bike more nimble and easier to control. The bike also has a very average wheelbase of 1340mm give or take 15mm, which is enough for a bike of this power to hit the corners with maximum stability.
Engine and Transmission:
The KTM RC 125 (Indian) comes with the same engine as the KTM Duke 125 (Indian) but has been tuned to be a bit more aggressive. It comes with a 4-stroke, 4 valves, single-cylinder, and 125cc engine. The engine is liquid-cooled and fuel-injected, which are huge plus points for the bike.
The engine pumps out a staggering 14.8BHP of power at 9500rpm and 12Nm torque at 8000rpm. While the power is extremely high, the torque figure does get a blow due to the engine size. The bike is expected to have a mileage of around 41kmpl (Company claim) on average. The engine also comes with a Bosch EMS (Engine management system).
The KTM RC 125 (Indian) has a basic wet multi-plate clutch system. However, the bike does not get a slipper clutch like the Yamaha R15 V3. The KTM RC 125 (Indian) has a 6-speed gearbox, and the bike has an approximate top speed of about 125kmph.
Brakes, Suspensions, and Wheel:
The KTM RC 125 (Indian) has Bosch powered dual-channel ABS (switchable), which means the front and the rear both get ABS. The bike also has a four-piston radial fixed caliper, 300mm brakes set up at the front. This means emergency braking will be faster and will be more efficient.
The brakes make the bike safer and more reliable. The rear 230mm disc with ABS is a huge plus point for this bike as well, as this ensures that the bike will not skid at emergency braking situations.
The KTM RC 125 (Indian) has upside-down WP Apex-43 telescopic forks as front suspension. The rear has a preload-adjustable WP mono-shock suspension.
This means that the bike will be highly stable during rides, cornering, and you can also adjust the rear suspension to your liking and situation. Although the rear seat has been said to be fairly stiff, the rear suspension can cover up for that.
The KTM RC 125 (Indian) gets alloy wheels. The front and rear wheels have 110/80 and 150/70 tires respectively. The stock MRF rear tire of this bike is considered to be one of the fattest tires available in Bangladesh. The tire set up makes this bike one of the best bikes to hit the corners of Bandar ban with maximum lean.
The KTM RC 125 (Indian) was made for youngsters who have been riding for quite some time and want to get a lower cc and dedicated sport bike. This bike induces confidence with its technologies. This bike has the power and torque figures for a young speed freak, yet is not as overwhelming when riding, due to its smooth riding. The KTM RC 125 (Indian) is also for the people who want to spoil themselves with expensive and high-quality bikes.
